This course is limited to Fire Marshals with law enforcement powers who want to expand their knowledge in the legal aspects of Use of Force.  This is a 2-day class taught by Sgt. Todd Markley of the Arlington Co. PD, who has twenty three years of street experience and has been a Certified Defensive Tactics Instructor for over twenty years.  The Course is comprised of the following training topics:  The Importance of Articulation, Force Definitions, Force Continuums, Case Laws, Report Writing and Analysis of Video Taped Scenarios.  Each student will also participate in training situations by means of Firearms Simunitions Training as well as Defensive Tactics Sudden Attack Scenarios.  Elliott Casey, an Albermarle County Commonwealth Attorney and former Alexandria Commonwealth Attorney will also be teaching certain legal aspects of this class.

 

Students shall bring gun belts to this class.  Students MUST attend both days

 

Class is limited to 16 students.

 

There will be a $50.00 fee for this class to cover the cost of materials and instructors.  An application has been made for eight (16) hours of Virginia DFP Inspector 1033 recertification hours.
